Angier in ActionWeek of April 28th, 2024
Dear Angier Families,
It sounds like An Evening for Angier last night was incredible! I was so sorry to miss it this year – I was out of town at a family wedding. A special thank you to AEFA co-chairs Emilie Wagner, Ann Stanberry and Becky Bristol for your tireless leadership and commitment to bringing our whole community together at this celebratory event.
In other news, our third, fourth and fifth graders worked hard on the ELA MCAS last week and all went very smoothly. We also had our final fire drill of the year, and the fire department was impressed with how efficiently we exited the building.
We are looking forward to seeing many of you at the Invention Invasion on Tuesday at 6:30pm. A reminder to all of our inventors: please drop off your invention before school on Tuesday or between 5:30-6:30pm on Tuesday, with an index card attached to the front of your invention that says:
- Inventor(s) First and Last Name & Grade
- Name of Invention
- What problem(s) does your invention solve?
Happy Passover to all who are celebrating. Have a wonderful week ahead!

SPECIAL EDUCATION AWARDS FOR TEACHERS AND STAFF
Has an Angier teacher and/or staff member been an exceptional part of your student’s special education experience this past year? If so, please consider nominating them for a Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) Award. The nomination deadline is May 13th.
-
A SEPAC Award recognizes exceptional NPS and out-of-district teachers, aides, behavior therapists, psychologists, bus drivers, crossing guards, administrators, BCBA’s and other staff for the role they have played in a student’s special education journey this past academic year.
-
Here’s how the process works:
-
Submit a nomination through the nomination form . All celebratory nominations will be recognized
-
On Monday, June 3rd, your nominee will receive:
-
A printed SEPAC Award delivered to their school
-
A note with the kind words you wrote about your nominee
-
A short slideshow of anonymized nominations lifting up the good work taking place across the district
-
-
Each principal will receive a list of nominees from their school
-
On Monday, June 10th from 5-6:30pm at Newton North High School Cafeteria, the SEPAC Board and Community will be hosting a SEPAC Awards Reception for nominees and their communities, and the families who nominated them. Please kindly save the date! Nominees either will receive a printed SEPAC Award at the reception or it will be delivered after to their home school.
Thank you for your help recognizing the exceptional teachers and staff who work so hard to support special education students. Any questions, please email newtonspecialeducationaw
ANGIER’S 3RD ANNUAL COMMUNITY BIKE RIDE AND RODEO – MAY 11TH AT 8:30AM
Join for this fun family event! All are welcome – students, caregivers and Angier staff! We will be hosting three simultaneous fun events on Sat, May 11th, beginning at 8:30am. Each individual can participate in one of the below events. Bike trailers are welcome. Note that all students MUST be accompanied by an adult.
- 5 mile bike ride around Waban
- 1.5 mile bike ride around Waban
- Bike rodeo (bike course in the parking lot for tricycles, training wheels & new bikers)
For those not riding, come and cheer on the riders, hand out water and play on the plaza! Smaller bikes, scooters, activities, chalk, and bubbles will be supplied.
The suggested donation for the event is $10 per person or $35 per family. All donations go to the Angier PTO. We don’t want the donation to keep anyone from coming – if the suggested donation presents a financial hardship, please join us anyway. All are welcome! Sign up HERE
